Shrines
I got into W.I.T.C.H as a kid because of a book order! They had the second volume of the graphic novels in it and I thought it looked cool, so my parents decided it would be alright to go ahead and order it for me.
Having loved magic since I was a little tiny kid, it was right up my alley immediately. The art style was pretty and it was about girls who discovered they had magic powers and had to save the world with them, what wasn't to like about that?
My favorite character right away was Cornelia. I thought she was pretty and I especially loved the way her hair was drawn, but also the design of her outfit. I remember thinking the power of earth was the coolest thing ever for the longest time just because of her. I also saw myself in her, I suppose, because I was also kind of stubborn.
My second favorite character was Hay Lin. She was artistic and had a rich heritage. I thought that was the coolest thing when I was young, and I don't suppose that's really changed too much even now. I still greatly value artistic expression.
All things considered, I don't remember too much about the actual story unfortunately. I still have the comics, though, and might decide to revisit them when I feel especially nostalgic sometime. I think it would be a great blast from the past - something to take me back to much simpler times, when the world was all magic.
